National Service Personnel: What to Do If You Didn't Receive the Two-Month Allowance Arrears

On 24th December 2025, the Government of Ghana disbursed two months’ arrears of allowance to National Service Personnel, with one month’s arrears still outstanding.

Following the payment, many service personnel, especially those in Colleges of Education, have expressed concern about not receiving their allowances. This article provides clarity on the issue and guides affected personnel on what steps to take.

The call of this problem

The challenge stems from a recent portal migration directive from the National Service Scheme (NSS). Many College of Education personnel were unable to migrate to the new NSS portal. As a result, they could not download or submit their evaluation forms, a key requirement for payment processing.

Despite this, allowances were paid automatically based on records already available at the District NSS Offices, where evaluation forms are normally submitted.

Why Some Personnel Did Not Receive Payment

According to checks, the following may explain why some personnel did not receive their allowance:

1. Misplacement of documents at the District Office.

2. Personnel details not updated or missing from the NSS system.

3. Unconfirmed service status at the District level.

4. Incomplete transmission of data to NSS Headquarters.

What Affected Personnel Should Do

All personnel who did not receive their allowance are advised to visit their District NSS Office for clarification or to submit an enquiry. The District Office is in the best position to assist, as they hold your service records.
