CETAG Strike: Urgent Issues Government Must Resolve to Resume Academic Activities

The ongoing nationwide strike by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), which commenced on November 24, 2025, has brought academic work in all public Colleges of Education to a standstill.

This industrial action is in response to the government’s continued failure to address long-standing concerns and fulfill key commitments most notably, the National Labour Commission’s arbitral award issued in May 2023.

 CETAG’s Core Demands:

CETAG has made it clear that the strike will persist until the following critical issues are resolved:

  • Non-Payment of All-Year-Round Work Compensation

Despite fulfilling their extended academic duties in 2022, the majority of CETAG members have not been paid. Only Accra College of Education has reportedly received partial compensation.

  • Outstanding Book and Research Allowances

Members are still owed research and book allowances for two consecutive academic years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024.
