When Will the Next GES Recruitment Exercise Begin? Here's What the Education Minister Said

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has successfully shortlisted 7,000 applicants for recruitment into the teaching service under the 2026 recruitment exercise.

According to the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, the government granted financial clearance for the recruitment of 7,000 teachers. Although more than 40,000 qualified applicants submitted applications, only the best-qualified candidates were shortlisted for appointment.

The Minister has further indicated that another recruitment exercise is expected to begin in November 2026. Speaking on the matter, he stated:

«"In November, the portal will be opened for 8,000 people to apply and start work on 1st January."»

This announcement offers renewed hope to thousands of qualified applicants who were unsuccessful in the current recruitment exercise.

Graduates from the Colleges of Education, universities, and diploma-awarding institutions who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to prepare their documents and monitor official announcements ahead of the November recruitment.

Applicants who were not shortlisted this year should remain hopeful, ensure their documents are complete and up to date, and get ready to apply when the recruitment portal reopens.
