GES PRO Explains Why Most Applicants Were Disqualified and the Criteria Used in the Recruitment Exercise

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, has provided clarification on some of the key factors that influence the selection of applicants during the teacher recruitment process.

His explanation came in response to a social media user who questioned the criteria used for selecting successful applicants. The user asked whether the selection process was random and wondered why some individuals who met all the recruitment requirements were not offered appointment letters.

Responding to the concerns, Daniel Fenyi explained that appointments are not made randomly. According to him, several important factors are considered before an applicant is selected.

These include:

  • The applicant's programme of study.
  • The teaching subjects available for recruitment.
  • The region and district selected during the application.
  • The availability of vacancies in the chosen location.
  • The number of recruitment slots available.
  • The level of education the applicant is qualified to teach.

Submission of all required documents, including a valid teaching licence, certificates, Ghana Card, and other necessary credentials.

Correct completion and submission of the application form, as errors or incomplete information may affect an applicant's chances.

His explanation suggests that even when an applicant meets the basic eligibility requirements, factors such as limited vacancies, competition for available positions, and errors in the application process may prevent them from being selected.

The clarification is expected to help applicants better understand that the GES recruitment process is based on multiple selection criteria rather than a random allocation of appointment letters.
