The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned applicants who were shortlisted in the ongoing 2026 teacher recruitment exercise to ignore fraudulent calls demanding money in exchange for maintaining or changing their recruitment status.
According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of GES, Daniel Fenyi, the Service has received reports that some successful applicants are being contacted by individuals claiming they must pay GH¢13,000 or risk having their recruitment status changed from "successful" to "unsuccessful."
Mr Fenyi described these calls as a scam and stressed that they do not originate from the Ghana Education Service.
He explained that the recruitment results displayed on the GES recruitment portal are backed by an official master list, which cannot be altered by fraudsters. Even if scammers manage to manipulate information online, the official master list remains the only valid document used for recruitment.
"If you were successful, nobody can change your status. Simply remain on standby for the next stage of the recruitment process," he assured applicants.
The GES PRO further stated that all official updates regarding appointment letters and subsequent stages of the recruitment process will only be communicated through the following official channels:
- Ghana Education Service (GES)
- Daniel Fenyi (GES PRO)
- GES District and Regional Offices, once the official master list is forwarded to them.
Mr Fenyi also encouraged unsuccessful applicants not to lose hope, revealing that the next GES recruitment exercise is expected to take place in approximately four months, around November 2026.
He further appealed to the public to help combat recruitment fraud by reporting suspected scammers to the police. Applicants who receive such fraudulent calls are advised to trace the callers where possible, report them to the appropriate security agencies, and publicly expose their names and phone numbers on social media to help prevent others from falling victim.
Mr Fenyi concluded by reminding the public that the monetisation of GES recruitment officially ended on 7 December 2024, and no applicant is required to pay money to secure or retain employment with the Ghana Education Service.
