National Service Authority Clarifies Flagged Personnel Status; Assures Speedy Resolution

The National Service Authority (NSA) has officially addressed concerns surrounding the recent flagging of some personnel within its system, assuring stakeholders and affected individuals that steps are being taken to resolve the issue swiftly.

In a press release dated March 3, 2026, and issued from its headquarters in Accra, the NSA management explained that the flagging of certain personnel records forms part of a routine administrative and technical exercise aimed at strengthening internal audit mechanisms.

Routine Verification Exercise

According to the Authority, the system-generated flags were introduced as a targeted measure to identify and correct irregularities within the payment framework. The NSA disclosed that a small percentage of anomalies were detected during internal reviews, prompting the need for further verification.

The initiative, the statement emphasized, is part of ongoing efforts to eliminate the long-standing issue of “ghost names” on the payroll and to ensure that public funds are disbursed strictly to legitimate and verified service personnel.

“The system-driven flag was implemented specifically to combat the phenomenon of ghost names on the payroll,” the Authority noted, stressing its commitment to transparency and accountability.

Detection of Fake Documentation

The NSA further revealed that the extended verification process became necessary following the discovery of fake documentation submitted by some individuals. To safeguard the integrity of the national service scheme, management decided to thoroughly re-examine flagged records before clearing payments.

This careful review process, according to the Authority, is intended to protect genuine personnel while maintaining public confidence in the scheme.

Resolution Process for Affected Personnel

To facilitate swift resolution, the NSA has reminded affected personnel who are yet to complete their documentation to ensure submission of all required materials for verification. These include:

  • School Transcripts
  • Student ID
  • Proof of Fee Payments
  • Admission Letter

The Authority assured that once valid documentation is confirmed, clearance will be granted promptly.

Assurance of Timely Payments

In a reassuring conclusion to the statement, the NSA emphasized that all personnel with valid documentation will be cleared by the close of the week. Payments for verified individuals will then be processed without delay.

The Authority reiterated its commitment to building a credible and efficient service system where only legitimate and validated personnel are recognized and compensated for their patriotic contribution to national development.

The statement was issued by the Director-General of the National Service Authority.
