2026 GTLE: Can Level 400 Students Register? Here’s What NTC Says

There has been growing concern among Level 400 teacher trainees about whether they can take part in the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE 1). With registration underway, many final-year students are eager to know if they qualify.

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has now provided clarity.

According to the Council, only candidates who have fully completed their teacher education programmes and whose academic records have been officially processed and uploaded by their institutions are eligible to register for the March 2026 sitting.

  • This means that most Level 400 students may not qualify yet.

Currently, many final-year trainees are still writing their final papers or awaiting the compilation and submission of their results. Until these academic records are finalized and successfully uploaded onto the official registration portal, registration cannot be validated.

  • In simple terms, eligibility is not just about being in Level 400 — it is about completion and official confirmation.

The NTC further emphasized that the upload of academic details by institutions is a mandatory requirement. Without this step, the system will not recognize a candidate as eligible for the examination.

For Level 400 students hoping to sit for the 2026 GTLE 1, the key requirement is clear: ensure that your programme has been fully completed and that your institution has uploaded and validated your academic records.

Until then, registration may not be possible.
