WASSCE 2026 First Series — Dates, Registration & Resit Fees

The 2026 WASSCE First Series is expected to run from 23 January to 14 February 2026, similar to last year’s First Series which took place from late January to mid-February. Registration for the 2026 First Series opened on 1 December 2025 and is expected to close on 20 December 2025.

For candidates applying for resits, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2026 resit fees. Fees vary depending on the number of subjects a candidate is registering for from a single subject to six or more. There are also additional fees for practical/project/ICT components and oral English tests.

The 2025 WASSCE results showed worrying declines in key subjects such as Mathematics, Integrated Science, English Language and Social Studies.

More than half of candidates failed Mathematics in 2025, prompting renewed calls for strengthened academic support, improved teaching resources, and targeted remedial programmes for affected students.

The resit fees help cover the administration of these examinations; candidates and schools should prepare early and ensure registration deadlines are met.
