Allegations of “Secret” Recruitment at Ghana Education Service (GES)

The Coalition of Unemployed Trained Teachers (2023 Graduates) has received numerous credible reports suggesting the ongoing involvement of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in unofficial and secret recruitment practices.

These disturbing allegations point to the undue influence of certain political figures including Members of Parliament (MPs), District Chief Executives (DCEs), and Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) who are reportedly facilitating the issuance of appointment letters for individuals based on personal connections or in exchange for favours, rather than through a fair and transparent process.

If proven true, these actions represent a grave violation of the principles of equity, transparency, and meritocracy that should govern public sector recruitment.

They also undermine the integrity of the teaching profession and betray the trust of thousands of qualified, trained teachers who continue to wait for legitimate placement.

We urge all individuals with verifiable evidence regarding these practices to come forward and share the information with the Coalition. We are actively gathering facts and will engage the relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure accountability.

In light of these developments, we call on all our members to begin mobilising their parents, guardians, and supporters those who have stood by them throughout their academic journey  to join us in a mass demonstration. This action will aim to raise public awareness and demand immediate reforms in the recruitment process.

We intend to march to the Jubilee House and remain there until a formal, transparent recruitment process is initiated for the 2023 cohort of trained teachers.

Further details regarding the date of the mega demonstration and media engagements will be communicated in due course.

We remain resolute in our fight for justice and equal opportunity, and we will pursue all legal and peaceful avenues to ensure our voices are heard
