The National Teaching Council (NTC) has provided clarification on the eligibility of Diploma holders seeking to register for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).
According to the information contained in the notice, holding a Diploma qualification alone does not make an individual eligible to register for the current GTLE.
Minimum Qualification for GTLE
The current entry requirement indicated by the NTC is a Bachelor’s Degree. This means applicants are expected to hold a recognised Bachelor’s Degree before they can register for the GTLE.
Diploma holders who wish to become eligible are therefore advised to consider pursuing a recognised Bachelor’s Degree top-up programme.
What Diploma Holders Should Do
Diploma holders who are interested in taking the GTLE may need to:
- Complete a recognised Bachelor’s Degree top-up programme.
- Ensure that the degree obtained meets the relevant NTC requirements.
- Confirm their eligibility with the National Teaching Council before registering for the examination.
Important Notice to Prospective GTLE Candidates
Applicants are encouraged to rely on official information from the National Teaching Council when determining their eligibility for the GTLE, as requirements may be subject to change.
The notice also provides the NTC hotline
- 0302 986 325 for enquiries.
In summary: Diploma holders are not eligible for the current GTLE based on the Diploma qualification alone. They are expected to obtain a qualifying Bachelor’s Degree before seeking to register.
