GES to Reopen Recruitment Portal on 15 November 2026 to Recruit Additional 8,000 Teachers from the 2023 Graduating Cohort of Colleges of Education

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the Ghana Education Service (GES) will reopen its teacher recruitment portal on 15 November 2026 to recruit an additional 8,000 teachers from the 2023 graduating cohort of Colleges of Education.

The announcement was made during the 68th Anniversary Speech and Prize-Giving Day celebration of Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary (POJOSS) in Koforidua, located in the Eastern Region.

According to the Minister, the new recruitment exercise forms part of the government's efforts to strengthen the country's education system by addressing teacher shortages and creating more employment opportunities for trained teachers who completed Colleges of Education in 2023.

The reopening of the recruitment portal is expected to give another opportunity to qualified graduates who were not recruited during the earlier intake. Eligible applicants will be required to submit their applications through the official GES recruitment portal once it becomes active on 15 November 2026.

The announcement is welcome news for thousands of trained teachers who have been awaiting another recruitment window. Many graduates from the 2023 cohort have been hopeful for an additional recruitment exercise after the initial recruitment process was completed.

Further details on eligibility requirements, application procedures, and deadlines are expected to be communicated by the Ghana Education Service ahead of the portal's reopening.

Applicants are advised to prepare their academic and professional documents and follow official GES announcements for updates regarding the recruitment process.
