GES PRO Clarifies Third-Term Mid-Term Break for Basic Schools

The Head of Public Relations of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, has clarified concerns regarding the third-term mid-term break for basic schools, stressing that the break will not take place on June 4 and 5 as widely circulated on social media.

In a public statement, Mr. Fenyi acknowledged that a mid-term break has been scheduled for the third term but emphasized that the dates being shared online are inaccurate.

“The mid-term break is not tomorrow. There will be a mid-term break, but it is not June 4th and 5th. I'll repeat this 1 billion times,” he stated.

He urged teachers, parents, and students to disregard unofficial information and rely only on verified communication from the Ghana Education Service.

According to him, any announcement concerning the academic calendar or school activities should first be confirmed through official GES communication channels before being accepted as true.

Mr. Fenyi advised the public to check the official GES platforms for updates. He further noted that school heads often receive official directives through regional education offices and can also provide accurate information to parents and students.

“If you see any information circulating, check the official GES page. If it is not there, check my page. If you're not on social media, confirm from your school head. Anything outside these sources is not true,” he added.

His clarification comes amid growing confusion among stakeholders following reports that basic schools would observe a two-day mid-term break on June 4 and 5. The GES has therefore encouraged the public to remain calm and await an official announcement regarding the exact dates for the third-term mid-term break.

The Ghana Education Service continues to urge parents, guardians, teachers, and students to rely on verified information from official channels to avoid misinformation and unnecessary disruptions to academic activities.
