The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the commencement of the 2026 Inter-Regional and Inter/Intra-District re-posting exercise for its staff across the country.
In a letter dated June 3, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, GES management informed Regional, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education that the annual re-posting process has begun.
According to the Service, the procedures and requirements for obtaining assurance and applying for re-posting remain unchanged. Staff members seeking transfers are therefore expected to follow the existing guidelines and submit all required documents.
Key Dates for the 2026 Re-Posting Exercise
GES has outlined the following schedule for the exercise:
1. Issuance of Assurance Letters
Eligible applicants can begin obtaining assurance letters from Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
2. Deadline for Assurance Applications
The issuance of assurance letters will end on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
3. Processing of Inter-Regional Applications
Regional offices will process inter-regional re-posting applications from Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
4. Final Deadline for Re-Posting Processing
The processing of all Inter-Regional and Inter/Intra-District re-posting applications will officially close on Monday, August 31, 2026.
5. Effective Date of Approved Transfers
Successful applications will take effect at the beginning of the next academic year in September 2026.
GES Directives to Regional Directors
GES has instructed all Regional Directors to submit processed inter-regional transfer documents to the headquarters immediately upon receipt to speed up the approval process.
Additionally, regions are required to compile and forward lists of all staff members who have been granted assurance to the Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD) Secretariat at the GES Headquarters in Accra.
Important Notice to Applicants
The Service emphasized that no staff member seeking re-posting should be released from their current station until the Director-General officially approves the application and issues a formal re-posting letter.
This means that obtaining assurance alone does not constitute approval for transfer. Staff must wait for the official re-posting letter before making any relocation arrangements.
