“We Will Open the Portal This Month for Teacher Recruitment” — Minister Assures NUGS President

In a promising development for education graduates across the country, Ghana’s Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has confirmed that the long-awaited teacher recruitment portal will be opened this month.

This assurance came during a recent engagement with the President of the National Union of Ghana Students, Rashid Ibrahim, who visited the Minister at his office to discuss concerns affecting students and graduates, particularly in relation to employment opportunities.

According to Rashid Ibrahim, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing teacher unemployment by initiating the recruitment process soon. The opening of the portal is expected to pave the way for qualified graduates from colleges of education and universities to apply for teaching positions across the country.

This announcement comes at a crucial time when many trained teachers are awaiting placement after months some even over a year of uncertainty. The move is also seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s education sector by ensuring that schools, especially in underserved communities, receive adequate teaching staff.

While the confirmation has been welcomed with optimism, stakeholders are hopeful that the recruitment process will be transparent, timely, and responsive to the real needs on the ground particularly the fair distribution of teachers to rural and deprived areas.

As anticipation builds, all eyes are now on the Ministry of Education to deliver on this promise and provide clear guidelines once the portal officially goes live.

Stay tuned for updates on how and when to apply.
