Announces Resumption of Children’s Registration for Ghana Card

The (NIA) has officially announced the resumption of Ghana Card registration for children aged 6 to 14 years. This exercise is set to begin in May 2026 and will be carried out across the Volta and Oti Regions.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to expand the national identification system and ensure that every eligible Ghanaian, including children, is captured in the database at an early stage.

Why This Matters

Registering children for the Ghana Card provides them with an official identity, which is increasingly becoming essential for accessing services such as education, healthcare, and future financial opportunities. Early registration also helps streamline identification processes later in life.

Requirements for Registration

Parents and guardians are advised to present at least one of the following during the registration process:

  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Valid Ghanaian Passport
  • A Parent or Close Relative to vouch for the child
  • A Legal Guardian
  • Two Social Welfare Officers (where necessary) to confirm the child’s identity

Important Reminder

The NIA is urging all parents and guardians not to delay. Early registration will help avoid congestion at registration centers and ensure a smooth process.

“Don’t be left out—register your child for the Ghana Card early.”

Final Note

This exercise is particularly important for families in the Volta and Oti Regions. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to secure their children’s identification and future access to essential services.

For more information, individuals can contact the NIA through their official communication channels.
