National Teaching Council Reschedules 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) Start Date

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially announced a change in the commencement date for the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE).

In a public notice released on 16th March 2026, the Council informed all candidates and stakeholders that the examination, which was originally scheduled to begin on Monday, 23rd March 2026, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, 24th March 2026.

Reason for the Change

According to the NTC, the adjustment became necessary due to a statutory public holiday that will be observed on Monday, 23rd March 2026. As a result, the Council moved the start date to ensure smooth administration of the examination.

Candidates are therefore advised to take note of the new schedule and prepare accordingly.

Updated GTLE Examination Schedule

The revised examination timetable is as follows:

  • Tuesday, 24th March 2026 – General Professional Knowledge

  • Wednesday, 25th March 2026 – Grade-Level Specialism Pedagogy

  • Thursday, 26th March 2026 – Multiple Subjects Content / Single Subject Specialism

The Council emphasized that all other arrangements for the examination remain unchanged.

Advisory to Candidates

The National Teaching Council has urged all candidates to carefully note the updated date and comply with the new schedule.

NTC also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the change and thanked candidates and stakeholders for their cooperation.
