List of Colleges of Education with Their Programme Specialisms and Affiliate Public Universities

 

Prospective students seeking admission into Colleges of Education in Ghana for the 2026/2027 academic year now have the opportunity to apply, as the list of accredited institutions and their programme specializations has been officially released.



According to the publication in the Daily Graphic (Wednesday, March 4, 2026), a total of 49 public Colleges of Education affiliated with major public universities in Ghana are offering various teacher education programmes. Certificates will be awarded by the respective affiliate universities upon successful completion of studies.



Affiliate Universities and Their Colleges


University of Ghana (UG), Legon

Colleges affiliated with UG offer programmes in Primary Education, Early Grade Education, and Junior High School (JHS) Education. Some of the institutions include:

  • Accra College of Education
  • Peki College of Education
  • Mount Mary College of Education, Somanya
  • Enchi College of Education
  • E.P. College of Education, Amedzofe
  • Evangelical College of Education, Pusiga

University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale

Colleges under UDS provide training mainly in Primary, Early Grade, and JHS Education. Institutions include:

  • Tumu College of Education
  • McCoy College of Education, Nadowli
  • Dambai College of Education
  • Gambaga College of Education
  • St. Vincent College of Education, Yendi
  • Al-Faruq College of Education, Wenchi (also offers Arabic as a specialized programme)

University of Cape Coast (UCC), Cape Coast

UCC affiliates offer programmes in Primary, Early Grade, and JHS Education. Colleges include:

  • Foso College of Education
  • St. Francis College of Education, Hohoe
  • OLA College of Education, Cape Coast
  • Holy Child College of Education, Takoradi

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi

KNUST-affiliated colleges include:

Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED)

Colleges under AAMUSTED offer Primary, Early Grade, and JHS Education. Some include:

  • St. John Bosco’s College of Education, Navrongo
  • Wiawso College of Education
  • Bagabaga College of Education, Tamale
  • Mampong Technical College of Education
  • Komenda College of Education
  • N.J. Ahmadiyya College of Education, Wa
  • Gbewaa College of Education, Pusiga (offers Arabic as a specialized area)

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges

Some Colleges of Education also run Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes in addition to their regular specializations. These include:
