Sod-Cutting Ceremony to Commence Major Infrastructure Development at St. Vincent College of Education, Yendi

 

St. Vincent College of Education in Yendi is set to witness a major milestone in its development as a sod-cutting ceremony is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Sunday, 25th January 2026, at 10:00 a.m. prompt.



The ceremony will officially mark the commencement of several transformative infrastructure projects aimed at improving academic delivery, administration, and student accommodation at the college.




The projects to be undertaken include the construction of a three-storey multipurpose assembly hall, a model school block, and a hostel block (Phase One) to help address accommodation challenges faced by students. Additionally, plans are in place for the construction of a three-storey administration block as well as a principal’s bungalow, all intended to enhance effective management and create a conducive learning environment.



The sod-cutting event will be graced by Hon. Alhassan Abdul Fatawu Jofa, Esq., Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency, who has played a key role in championing development initiatives in the area. Also expected at the ceremony is Hon. Alhassan Sualihu Dandawa, Deputy Administrator of GETFund, whose institution is instrumental in supporting educational infrastructure across the country.




The development projects underscore the government’s commitment, through GETFund and stakeholder collaboration, to strengthening teacher education and improving facilities in colleges of education, particularly in the Northern Region.



Management of St. Vincent College of Education, staff, students, traditional authorities, and members of the general public are expected to attend the ceremony, which marks a significant step toward advancing quality education and institutional growth in Yendi.
