GES Sets the Records Straight on 2025 WASSCE Results and Exam Integrity

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially responded to recent public commentary and speculation surrounding the 2025 WASSCE results.

In a press release dated December 1, 2025, GES sought to clarify misconceptions and emphasize its commitment to upholding educational standards and examination integrity.

Clarifying Public Concerns

Following the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, various public discussions have emerged  particularly accusations leveled against the current GES leadership by former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum.

GES firmly rejects these claims, describing them as an attempt to divert attention from the former minister’s own shortcomings while in office.

One major issue addressed was the rumour about the cancellation of November allowances for teachers.

GES stated categorically that no such cancellation has occurred. Instead, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) provided specific administrative reasons for any payment delays, which have since been resolved.

WASSCE Results Reflect Real Student Performance

GES strongly defended the credibility of the 2025 WASSCE results, assuring the public that the grades reflect the true academic performance of students.

The service outlined that rigorous examination protocols were implemented this year, including intensified invigilation and the strict enforcement of anti-malpractice policies.

Fighting Exam Malpractice Head-On

One of the key reforms in the 2025 exams was a clear directive prohibiting any form of assistance to students during the exams.

This directive was backed by disciplinary measures, which significantly reduced malpractice across exam centers.

These efforts, GES emphasized, were not meant to suppress student performance but to restore the integrity and value of Ghana's educational assessments.

Looking Ahead: International WASSCE in 2026

GES announced that Ghana will transition from the locally-administered WASSCE to the West Africa-wide international WASSCE format beginning May/June 2026.

As a result, the service is advising all students and schools to prepare adequately for this upcoming shift, which aligns Ghana’s examination calendar with that of other member countries of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
