GES Assures Teachers: December Payment of Arrears, Recruitment, and Allowances Confirmed

Mr. Daniel Fenyi, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has brought relief to many educators by confirming that all outstanding arrears owed to teachers will be paid in December 2025.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News on Monday, Mr. Fenyi disclosed that teachers who have worked for 11 months without receiving salaries except for one month paid in November can expect their full outstanding payments before the end of December.

He also addressed concerns about delays and uncertainty surrounding the GES recruitment process. According to him, the recruitment exercise will definitely take place, and eligible individuals should stay alert for official announcements.

On the issue of teacher allowances, Mr. Fenyi strongly debunked rumors that certain allowances had been scrapped. He affirmed that no teacher-related allowances, including the Professional Development Allowance (PDA), the Deprived Area Incentive (DIA), and intervention allowances, have been cancelled. He assured that all due payments will be made as expected.

His statement comes as a timely reassurance to teachers across the country, reinforcing the GES’s commitment to addressing challenges in the education sector and prioritizing the welfare of its staff.
