Analysis of WASSCE (SC) 2025 Core Subject Performance

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the WASSCE (School Candidate) 2025 results, providing a detailed breakdown of candidate performance across the four core subjects: English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science, and Social Studies. The newly published data highlights both achievements and concerns regarding the academic strengths of candidates nationwide. Performance of Candidates in the Core Subjects — WASSCE (SC) 2025 An analysis of the results reveals that English Language recorded the highest pass rate, with 69.00% of candidates scoring between A1–C6.

 This was followed by Integrated Science with 57.74%, and Social Studies with 55.82%. However, Core Mathematics presented significant challenges, as only 48.73% of candidates obtained grades between A1–C6, making it the weakest subject for the 2025 cohort. Four-Year Performance Trends (2022–2025) In reviewing the performance from 2022 to 2025, slight fluctuations are noted across subjects. English Language has shown consistent improvement, though slightly dropping from 2023. Social Studies also recorded strong results over the years but dipped in 2025. 

 The most notable decline occurred in Core Mathematics, which dropped from 66.86% in 2024 to 48.73% in 2025, marking the lowest four-year performance. TABLE 2: Four-Year Performance Statistics (2022–2025)
