GTEC Directs Colleges of Education to Commence 2026/2027 Admissions Immediately

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed all Colleges of Education to commence the admission of fresh students for the 2026/2027 academic year with immediate effect.

This follows concerns over the delay in the commencement of admissions while the approval of the new 2026/2027 academic fees structure remains pending.

GTEC Issues Directive to Colleges of Education

In a letter dated September 30, 2026, addressed to the Principals of Colleges of Education, GTEC stated that it had noted that Colleges of Education were yet to commence the admission of fresh students for the 2026/2027 academic year because the final approval of the new fees structure was still outstanding. 💬 JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP Get the latest education updates and important announcements However, the Commission has now directed the Colleges of Education to proceed with admissions while it works with the Minister for Education to secure approval of the 2026/2027 fees.

2025/2026 Fees to Be Used Temporarily

According to the directive, Colleges of Education are to use the approved 2025/2026 academic year fees in the interim.

GTEC explained that the fees paid under the existing approved structure will be subject to review once the 2026/2027 fees are approved by the relevant authorities.

This means prospective students should not necessarily wait for the final approval of the new fee structure before the admission process begins.

What Prospective Students Should Know

The directive is expected to pave the way for Colleges of Education to begin processing and releasing admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Applicants who have already applied for admission are therefore encouraged to:

  • Regularly check the admission portal for updates.
  • Monitor their SMS messages and email inboxes for admission notifications.
  • Follow instructions from their respective Colleges of Education.
  • Be guided by official information from the College concerning admission fees and payment procedures.
  • Avoid relying on unverified information circulating on social media.

GTEC's Directive

The letter was signed by Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, Director-General of GTEC, and copied to the Hon. Minister, Ministry of Education, and the Head, Budget, GTEC.

The latest directive provides an official indication that the delay in the commencement of the 2026/2027 admission process is being addressed, with Colleges of Education now expected to commence admissions immediately.

Prospective applicants are advised to wait for official admission notifications and instructions from their respective Colleges of Education.
