NTC Confirms Date for Next Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced that the next Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) will be held in September 2026 following a stakeholder engagement meeting on reforms to the licensure process.

The meeting, held at the NTC Headquarters on 23rd June 2026, brought together representatives of the Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) and the Education Affiliated Universities Students Association to discuss the future of the GTLE after its integration into the final examinations of teacher trainees.

The engagement focused on key issues, including ongoing GTLE reforms, the proposed date for the next examination, and other matters concerning the teacher licensure process. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Registrar in Charge of Operations, Dr. Cecilia Esenam Agbeh.

Addressing the student representatives, Dr. Agbeh assured them that the Council remains committed to listening to the concerns and suggestions of teacher trainees through their representatives. She emphasized that NTC's reform efforts are aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the teaching profession while ensuring the welfare of trainees.

According to the Council, the next GTLE is scheduled for September 2026. NTC further indicated that details regarding registration timelines, examination guidelines, and other relevant information will be communicated ahead of the examination.

Teacher trainees and prospective candidates are therefore advised to regularly monitor the official NTC platforms for authentic and timely updates concerning the upcoming licensure examination.

The stakeholder engagement reflects NTC's commitment to maintaining open dialogue with key education stakeholders as reforms to the teacher licensure system continue.
