The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched an initiative aimed at securing employment opportunities for Ghanaians being evacuated from South Africa. The move forms part of efforts to support affected citizens and ensure their smooth reintegration into society upon their return home.
According to a public notice issued by the Ministry, Ghanaian Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), business owners, and entrepreneurs are being encouraged to offer employment opportunities to returning nationals. The Ministry believes that the private sector can play a vital role in helping returnees rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to the country's economic development.
The Ministry's Delivery Unit, headed by Ambassador Alexander Grant Ntrakwa, has been tasked with coordinating the initiative and connecting potential employers with qualified returnees. Interested employers are urged to contact the Delivery Unit through the dedicated hotline provided by the Ministry.
Speaking on the initiative, the Ministry revealed that it has already secured 120 job opportunities through the support of patriotic Ghanaian business owners who have responded positively to the call. Authorities are optimistic that more companies and organizations will join the effort in the coming weeks.
The Ministry emphasized that every Ghanaian citizen deserves support during difficult times and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare and dignity of all Ghanaians, both at home and abroad.
"We value and cherish all our citizens," the statement noted, highlighting the government's determination to provide practical assistance to those returning from South Africa.
The Ministry has therefore called on the business community and the general public to support this noble initiative by creating opportunities that will help returning Ghanaians successfully reintegrate into the workforce and society.
