The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced in Parliament that the first batch of newly recruited teachers will officially begin work on July 1, 2026.
According to the Minister, about seven thousand (7,000) teachers are expected to be recruited in the first phase of the exercise.
He further explained that he is still engaging the Finance Minister to increase the number of recruitments. However, he noted that the additional recruitment may not be captured in the current budget. He added that there is a possibility for the number to be increased during the mid-year budget review.
