The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the Ministry of Education has secured approval from the Ministry of Finance to recruit at least 7,000 teachers. This initiative is aimed at addressing the growing teacher deficit across the country.
According to the Minister, the recruitment will cover graduates from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 cohorts, offering employment opportunities to trained teachers while strengthening the education sector.
In addition, Haruna Iddrisu revealed that universities nationwide have also been granted clearance to recruit 1,200 faculty members. This move is expected to enhance academic staffing and improve the quality of higher education delivery.
The dual recruitment effort forms part of the government’s broader strategy to improve access to quality education, ensure adequate staffing in schools, and support the development of Ghana’s human capital.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the announcement, noting that it could significantly reduce pressure on existing teachers and improve learning outcomes across the country.
