GES Warns Heads of Schools Against Unauthorized WASSCE Registration

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a strong warning to heads of Senior High and Technical Schools over the unauthorized registration of Form Two and private candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a press release dated 8th January, 2026, GES revealed that it has observed some school heads are registering candidates who are not qualified often in exchange for fees. According to the directive, only Form Three students with clear academic records traceable from Year 1 to Year 3 are eligible for registration by schools.

GES emphasized that registering Form Two or private candidates through school systems is strictly prohibited.

The release stated that:

  • Any school head or official involved in such practices is engaging in misconduct and abuse of office.
  • Offenders will face strict sanctions in line with both GES and WAEC regulations.

The statement, signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, serves as a reminder to all heads and school officials to comply strictly with registration guidelines to avoid disciplinary action.
